Seven is comprised of nine compositions written for combinations of alto saxophone, bass clarinet, voice, electric guitar, and electronics. Utilizing elements of jazz, free improvisation, and experimental noise, the album serves as the culmination of seven years of musical exploration as a duo. Each piece is inspired by themes and imagery found in occultism and metaphysics. The frozen lake and falling snow provided a beautifully surreal setting for our music making. We feel fortunate to also have enjoyed warm food, good company, and plenty of laughter with Sylvaine, Sam and Blake. All of this helped to make the experience extremely gratifying and moving, a feeling that is reflected in the music we recorded.
